25th/26th/27th November 2011.

South Australian Open Championships - Go-Kart Club of SA (Monarto).

This weekend at Monarto Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Leopard Heavy class.  Steven showed great pace all weekend in a top field which included the current Australian Champion.  He qualified in 6th position & then finished in 5th & 9th positions in the Heats after being forced off the track in the 2nd Heat.  He fought back well in the Pre-Final to finish in 6th place.  He then put in a great drive in the Championship Final moving up to 4th place mid race before once again being forced off the track & dropping back to 6th.  In the 2nd half of the Final he showed the true potential of his Silhouette package by setting the 3rd fastest lap of the race & moved back up to finish in an excellent 5th place.

Gold Cup - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

This weekend at Todd Road was the annual Gold Cup which was run over 2 days with Qualifying & 2 Heats of 10 laps on Saturday & a Pre-Final of 12 laps and a Final of 16 laps on Sunday.  Chris Knowles raced in the Sportsman 125 Heavy class using his Silhouette T30 chassis with a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine.  In wet & tricky conditions on Saturday Chris qualified in 4th position & finished 2nd in both Heats in the 17 kart field.  Chris started the Pre-Final in 2nd position & showed good pace to once again finish in 2nd position.  This meant he once again started 2nd for the Final.  He once again put in a strong performance to finish on the podium in an excellent 3rd place.

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  He finished in 3rd position in both Heats.  He started on 2nd position for the 10 lap Final & after a great battle with a group of competitors he won the race, also setting the fastest lap.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Trevor Stott was racing with a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine for the first time.  He finished in 2nd & 1st places in the Heats setting the fastest lap in the 1st heat.  This meant he started on Pole Position for the 10 lap Final.  Unfortunately some light rain at the start of the race saw Trevor run wide at turn 1 and drop a long way behind the field.  He showed what might have been by still setting the fastest lap of the race by almost 3 tenth’s of a second!

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  He showed awesome speed in the tricky conditions to finish in 4th & 1st positions in the Heats, setting the fastest lap in Heat 1.  He then drove a good race in the 12 lap Final finishing in 3rd place, just missing out on 2nd place by 0.100 of a second!

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  This was the ‘Feature’ class for this month which meant Qualifying, 2 Heats, Pre-Final & Final.  He showed awesome pace in Qualifying to top the time sheets by over 2 tenth’s of a second.  He then finished 2nd & 3rd in the Heats & 2nd in the Pre-Final.  He started on 2nd position for the 12 lap Final & after a close race with another competitor he finished in 2nd position only 0.270sec behind the leader, also setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Tag 125 class Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine.  He showed good speed in the Heats finishing in 3rd & 1st places setting the fastest lap in Heat 2.  Starting from 2nd position in the 10 lap Final he finished in 2nd place by only 0.273sec after leading most of the race.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He finished in 5th & 3rd places in the Heats showing great pace in the 2nd Heat by setting the fastest lap.  In the Final Keith was involved in a race long battle with a number of competitors & he made some good passing moves late in the race to finish in an excellent 2nd place.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  He showed good speed in the Heats to finish in 3rd & 4th positions.  He started 3rd for the Final and after dropping back to 5th at the start he then drove a great race move his way back up to 3rd place at the end of the 12 lap race.

Junior Sprint Classic - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

This weekend at Pucka Luke Capozza raced the Silhouette J28 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J engine in the Junior National Heavy C&D class.  This was Luke’s first race meeting off P-Plates and he showed good speed in the 2 Heats on Saturday finishing in 5th & 8th places in the 17 Kart field.  This put him on grid 6 for the 3rd Heat on Sunday morning, but heavy rain fell at the start of the race with most of the field on slick tyres.  Luke unfortunately spun out of the race on lap 5.  The track was almost dry at the start of the 10 lap Final but most of the drivers elected to start on wet tyres, including Luke.  He made a good start from Grid 8 and showed good pace to move his way up the order, making some good passing moves to finish in an excellent 4th place.

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  He once again showed the speed of this package by finishing 1st & 3rd in the Heats, setting the fastest lap in the 2nd Heat.  He started on pole position for the 10 lap Final & after taking the lead at the start he pulled away to win the race by 1.6 seconds.

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 class.  He finished 2nd in both Heats, setting the fastest lap in the 1st Heat.  He started on 2nd position for the 10 lap Final & took the lead at the start.  He then controlled the pace at the front to edge away from the pack & take the win by 1.2 seconds.  This win also gave him the overall win on the day.

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He once again showed superior speed in the 1st Heat to take the win by almost 4 seconds, setting the fastest lap.  Unfortunately he snapped a chain on the 1st lap of the 2nd Heat resulting in a DNF.  Starting from 7th position in the Final he then proceeded to carve his way through the field, taking the lead on lap 5.  He then went on to take the win, setting the fastest lap in the process.  He ended up 4th on points for the day as a result of the 2nd Heat DNF.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He showed consistent speed all day to finish in 3rd place in both Heats & once again finish 3rd in the Final for another podium result.

We would also like to congratulate Mason Thomas on his 1st place in Clubman Light & Nathan Compagnino on his 3rd place also in Clubman Light both powered by Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engines.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  He showed strong speed in the 1st Heat to finish in 3rd position & then backed this up in the 2nd Heat by winning the race by 3 seconds.  He started 2nd for the Final and drove a great race to pressure the leader for the entire 12 lap race to finish in a strong 2nd place.

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 class.  He won both Heats setting the fastest lap in both races.  He started on pole position for the 10 lap Final and had a race long duel with another competitor before re-taking the lead with 1 lap to go to win the race & take a clean sweep of wins for the day.

Glenn also raced the Clubman Heavy class in the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He showed good speed in the Heats to finish 3rd in the first Heat & then he won the 2nd Heat also setting the fastest lap.  This meant he started the Final on pole position but unfortunately he was taken out by another competitor on the opening lap of the race.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  He showed consistent pace in the Heats to finish in 4th & 5th places.  He saved his best performance for the 12 lap Final to once again finish on the podium in 3rd place.

Club Day - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

Today at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the Tag 125 class.  He finished 5th in the 1st Heat & then won the 2nd Heat setting the fastest lap.  He started on pole position for the 10 lap Final but dropped back to 4th at the start.  He then showed superior speed to make his way back into the lead on lap 5 & then pulled away to win by 1.2 seconds, setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He once again showed this package is the one to beat by finishing in 1st & 3rd places in the Heats, setting the fastest lap in both races.  He had a slow start in the Final but once the Kart came on he set a blistering pace to reel in the leader & take a comfortable win.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He showed good pace in the 1st Heat finishing in 3rd place but unfortunately he didn’t finish the 2nd Heat getting caught in a turn 1 pile-up.  He then finished in a strong 4th place in the Final which still gave him enough points for 3rd overall on the day.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  In damp & slippery conditions in the 1st Heat he unfortunately ended in the gravel trap resulting in a DNF.  He recovered well in the 2nd Heat on a dry track to win the race leading from start to finish.  He also showed good pace in the 12 lap Final to once again finish on the podium in a strong 3rd place.

Golden Power Series Round 2 - Gippsland

This weekend at Gippsland Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Super Heavy class.  He was consistent in the Heats finishing in 6th & 7th places.  He started 7th in the Pre-Final but some minor changes to the setup had him showing good pace moving up to 5th at the finish.  The rain came down for the Final & Keith put in an excellent performance, adapting well to the tricky conditions to finish the race on the podium in an excellent 3rd place.

Golden Power Series Round 1 - Rochester

This weekend at Rochester Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  He showed good pace in the Heats to finish in 2nd & 5th places.  This meant he started 3rd in the Pre-Final.  Glenn had a good battle for the lead during the Pre-Final re-taking the lead on the last lap to take the win.  In the 12 lap Final Glenn dropped back to 2nd place at the start.  He took the lead on lap 5 and pulled a small gap which he held to the finish to take the victory, also setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Leopard Heavy class Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine.  He also showed good speed in the Heats to finish in 2nd & 3rd places, setting the fastest lap in Heat 2.  In the Pre-Final Steven overcame a slow start to catch the leading pair finishing in 3rd place & once again setting the fastest lap.  In the Final the top 3 Karts were nose to tail for the entire 12 lap race putting on a good display for the spectator’s with Steven finishing in 3rd place only 0.4 seconds behind the winner.

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  He once again showed good pace in the Heats by finishing in 2nd & 1st places.  He started the Final from Pole Position & led from start to finish to win the 10 lap race by 5 seconds, setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He also showed good pace in the heats finishing in 1st & 2nd places.  He started the Final on Pole Position & had a race long battle in the lead group of 4 Karts.  An attempted passing move for 2nd on the last lap didn’t quite work out & he crossed the finish line in 4th place, He still had enough points for 2nd overall on the day & also set the fastest lap in the Final.

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  In the Heats he showed good pace finishing in 1st & 3rd places.  In the Final Chris started in 2nd position & had a good battle for the lead for the entire race, finishing in a close 2nd place.

Victorian Open Championships - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road).

This weekend at Todd Road Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  In an extremely competitive field of 30 drivers which included the current Australian champion aswell as a host of current & former State & National champions Glenn qualified in 8th position.  He finished 10th & 9th in the two Heats which gave him grid 9 for the Pre-Final.  After losing a few positions early in the Pre-Final he recovered well towards the end of the 14 lap race to move back up to 8th position.  This meant starting on grid 8 for the 20 lap Championship Final.  Glenn got a good start in the Final moving up to 6th place.  This then became 4th when two competitor’s crashed at the start of the second lap.  Glenn showed the full potential of his Silhouette package by moving into 3rd place on lap 15 and was closing the gap on second place over the remaining laps showing some great late race pace to finish on the podium in an excellent 3rd place at the end of the 20 lap Final.

Glenn also raced in the Senior National Heavy class aboard a Silhouette J28 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J engine.  He qualified fastest by 0.204 sec.  This meant starting on Pole Position for the Heats.  He went on to finish 1st & 2nd which meant once again starting the Pre-Final on Pole Position.  After a close battle throughout the 14 lap Pre-Final Glenn Finished in 2nd position.  At the start of the 20 lap Championship Final Glenn & another competitor pulled away from the rest of the field.  Towards the end of the Final Glenn was unable to challenge for the win but finished in a strong 2nd position to once again be on the podium.

In the Leopard Heavy class Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T32 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine.  In his first race meeting since moving up from the Restricted 125 class Steven showed some good pace to Qualify in 9th position.  Unfortunately he didn’t finish the 1st Heat but bounced back strongly in the 2nd Heat to finish in 7th position.  This meant he started the 14 lap Pre-Final from grid 9 & he once again showed good pace to move up to 6th place only to encounter an electrical problem on the last lap but he was still able to finish in 7th position.  At the start of the 20 lap Championship Final Steven lost a few positions but drove well showing some good pace to move back up to 8th position by the end of the race.

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  He once again showed good pace in the Heats by finishing in 2nd & 1st places.  He started the Final from Pole Position & pulled away to win by 1.5 seconds, setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He also showed good pace in the heats finishing in 2nd & 3rd places.  He then finished 3rd in the 10 lap Final. 

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine in the Tag 125 Heavy class.  In the 1st Heat he unfortunately had a DNF but he recovered well to finish 3rd in the 2nd Heat.  In the Final Chris started in 8th position & drove a great race to power his way up to 3rd place at the finish of the 8 lap race.

All Star Series - Round 1 - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

This weekend at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  Glenn showed good pace in the Heats finishing in 3rd & 5th places.  This meant he started 5th in the Pre-Final but he dropped back to 9th on Lap 3 while trying to avoid a collision ahead of him.  Despite having some damage to his Kart he was still able to make his way up to 4th place at the Finish.  Glenn got a good start in the Final running in the lead group of 3 Karts as they pulled away from the rest of the pack.  Glenn had a chance at victory on the last lap with an outside passing attempt on the second last corner, but it didn’t come off & meant that he had to settle for 3rd place with just 0.106 second covering the top 3 Karts.

All Star Series 2010.

On Friday 10th December the Victorian Karting Association held its annual presentation night.  The awards for the 2010 All Star Series were presented during the evening.  Silhouette Race Karts would like to congratulate Steven Riddell on winning the 2010 All Star Series in the TAG Restricted class.  He dominated the 4 round series winning every round in conditions that varied from hot & sunny at the first round at Todd Road to cold & wet at Pucka for the last round.  His average winning margin for the 4 Finals was 5.6 seconds!  If you want a winning advantage over your competitors then come in & have a closer look at the Silhouette T30 today.

Club Finals - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

This weekend at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  He showed the pace of the Silhouette T30 chassis by setting the fastest lap in Qualifying to start the Heats on Pole Position.  The first 2 Heats were held on a wet track on Saturday & he finished in 2nd & 1st places.  The Pre-Final & Final were held on a dry track on Sunday. Starting the Pre-Final from Pole Position he dropped back to 2nd at the start, regaining the lead half way through the race he then pulled away to take the win setting the fastest lap of the race.  He then dominated the Final leading from start to finish to win by almost 5 seconds, once again setting the fastest lap of the race.

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  Glenn qualified in 4th position & then showed good pace in the wet heats finishing in 2nd & 3rd positions.  He started on 2nd position for the Pre-Final on a dry track & took the lead at the start, after a good battle he went on to win the race.  This meant he started on Pole Position for the Final & once again he took the lead at the start.  Glenn & another competitor then pulled away from the rest of the field & after swapping the lead on several occasions Glenn pulled off a great passing move to re-take the lead with half a lap to go to take the victory.

In the Clubman Super Heavy class Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  He qualified in 4th position & showed good pace in the wet Heats finishing in 3rd & 1st places.  This meant he started on Pole Position for the Pre-Final & he went on to finish in 2nd position.  Keith then once again finished in 2nd position in the Final.  Well done.

Champion of Champions Race - Steven Riddell raced in the annual Champion of Champions handicap race which was the last event for the Club Finals.  Driving his Silhouette T30 chassis with a Silhouette Race Engines prepared restricted Leopard X30 he got a great start making up several positions on the run out of the grid & up past the canteen for the first time.  He then continued to show great pace & skill, carving his way through the field to be in 2nd place at the start of the last lap.  He caught the leader with half a lap to go & then made a daring outside passing move entering the last corner to take the win & the title of Champion of Champions for 2010!

27th & 28th November 2010.

This weekend at Todd Road was the annual Gold Cup which was run over 2 days with 3 heats of 8 laps on Saturday & a pre-final of 12 laps and a Final of 15 laps on Sunday.  Chris Knowles raced in the TAG Restricted class using his new Silhouette T30 chassis with a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine.  In tricky conditions in the Heats on Saturday Chris finished 1st, 4th & 2nd in the 18 Kart field.  Chris started the Pre-Final in 2nd position & after dropping a few positions in the first few laps he showed good pace to come back through to finish in 2nd position.  This meant he once again started 2nd for the Final.  At the start Chris maintained his 2nd position as he & another competitor pulled away from the rest of the field.  He followed the leader closely until he lost time late in the race while trying to lap a slower Kart.  He was unable to close the gap over the last couple of laps but still finished in a strong 2nd position almost 12 seconds ahead of 3rd place.  Well done Chris on another podium finish.

In the Rookies class the surprise packet of the weekend was definitely Elijah D’Cruz, powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J engine.  In his first race meeting off P-Plates he showed great skill in the wet & tricky conditions on Saturday.  He finished 2nd, 3rd & 2nd in the 3 heats including setting the fastest lap in Heat 3 by over 1 second!  He backed this up with 3rd in the Pre-Final but unfortunately missed out on a podium position in the Final finishing in 4th place after another good drive.

Golden Power Series - Round 5 - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

This weekend at Pucka Keith Hamann raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Super Heavy class.  With no testing after only picking up his new Silhouette T30 a couple of days before the meeting he stunned the field by winning the 1st Heat in tricky, damp conditions.  He then showed good pace to finish 3rd in the 2nd Heat & 3rd again in the Pre-Final.  Keith got a great start in the Final, taking the lead into the 1st corner.  He then showed great pace & consistency to pull out a small gap over the rest of the field which he held to the chequered flag to win the Final.  The Team at Silhouette Karts would like to congratulate Keith on winning his first race meeting on debut in the Silhouette T30.

Today at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  He showed good pace in the heats to finish in 3rd & 1st places setting the fastest lap in both races.  He then pulled out a comfortable lead in the Final until the last lap when an electrical problem caused him to drop back to 5th place at the finish.  He still set the fastest lap of the race & had enough points to finish 2nd overall for the day.

Today at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  He once again showed superior pace by winning both heats & setting the fastest lap in both races aswell.  He then dominated the Final from start to finish winning by over 9 seconds & set the fastest lap of the race by over 1 second to take a clean sweep of wins for the day.

We would also like to congratulate Keith Hamann on his 2nd Place in the Clubman Super Heavy class powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T32 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard RL engine in the Tag Restricted class.  In the Heats he showed good pace to finish in 2nd & 4th places, setting the fastest lap in the 2nd heat.  In the Final Chris once again drove a good race to finish in 2nd place once again setting the fastest lap of the race.

We would also like to congratulate Liam Brooks on his 3rd Place in the Junior National Heavy class powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J engine.

All Star Series - Round 4 - Eastern Lions Kart Club (Pucka)

This weekend at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  Steven was looking to put in a good performance on his home track & he didn’t disappoint.  He dominated the last round of the series winning both Heats on a dry track on Saturday & then backing this up by winning the Pre-Final & Final on a wet track on Sunday.  He set the fastest lap in every race & won the Final by over 11 seconds.  This meant he won every round of the series and is also the overall winner of the 2010 All Star Series in the Tag Restricted class.  Well Done!

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  Glenn could only manage two 7th place finishes in the Heats in tricky conditions.  After dropping back to 10th at the start of the Pre-Final, he then showed great pace to storm his way through the field to finish in 4th place.  The 16 lap Final was held on a mostly wet track with some dry patches but also some rivers running across parts of the track!  Starting 4th he was unfortunately forced off the track at the first corner & he dropped to the back of the field.  He then showed good pace to work his way through the field to finish in 5th position setting the fastest lap of the race.

All Star Series - Round 3 - Oakleigh Kart Club

This weekend at Oakleigh Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  Steven continued his good form from the first 2 rounds by finishing 2nd & 1st in the two heats held on Saturday.  This meant he started the Pre-Final on pole position & he won the 14 lap race comfortably by over 5 seconds setting the fastest lap of the race.  In the 16 lap Final he led from start to finish to win by over 3 seconds and once again setting the fastest lap of the race.  Well done on another excellent effort

In the TAG Restricted class Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine.  With 1st & 2nd places in the first 2 heats he started on pole position for the Final.  He dropped back to 2nd place at the start but regained the lead before the end of the 1st lap.  He then showed superior pace to pull away for a comfortable win.

Today at Pucka Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class.  The 1st Heat was held on a wet track & Glenn showed the Silhouette chassis can handle all conditions by taking the win.  The 2nd Heat was held on a dry but cold & slippery track & he also won this race.  He started on Pole Position for the Final & led front start to finish to take a clean sweep of wins for the day.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T32 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard engine in the Tag Restricted class.  In the 1st Heat he showed great skill by winning the race on a wet & slippery track with slick tyres!  In the 2nd Heat he finished in 7th place on a dry track.  Starting in position 4 for the Final he had an early battle with another competitor for 3rd position but in the second half of the race he was able to pull away and finish in a comfortable 3rd place.  Well done on another podium position!

In the Clubman Light class Rhys Harrod was having his 1st race in the Silhouette C28 chassis.  After only driving the Kart for the 1st time the day before Rhys used the Heats to acclimatize himself to the Kart finishing in 8th & 5th positions.  After making some chassis adjustments & rectifying an engine issue Rhys showed excellent speed in the Final by powering his way up to 3rd place at the finish.  Well Done!

All Star Series - Round 2 - Geelong Kart Club

This weekend at Geelong Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  Steven once again showed that Silhouette Race Karts are the Kart to have in this class.  Starting the 1st Heat in 8th he stormed through the field to finish in 2nd position setting the fastest lap of the race.  In the 2nd Heat he started in 7th & once again stormed through the field to win the race & set the fastest lap.  In the Pre-Final he started on pole position & after a battle on the first lap he then controlled the pace from the front to win the 14 lap race by over 2 seconds. In the Final he once again started on pole position & lead the race from start to finish showing the full potential of the Silhouette T30 by setting the fastest lap & winning the 16 lap race by over 5 seconds!  Well done!

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C30 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  Glenn showed good speed in the Heats finishing in 6th & 3rd positions.  Unfortunately he was unable to start the Pre-Final due to a broken chain in the formation laps.  This meant he would have to start the final in 18th position.  In the 16 lap Final he survived a first lap incident in which he lost a lot of time to then power his way through the field to finish in 7th position.

Today at Todd Road Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T32 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard engine in the Tag Restricted class.  In the 1st Heat he showed the full potential of this package by taking the win.  We would like to congratulate Chris on his first race win, Well Done!  In the 2nd Heat he finished in 8th place after a tough race.  Starting in position 4 for the Final he unfortunately had to avoid an incident at the first corner which meant he dropped back to last place.  Showing great speed & determination he charged back to 6th place at the finish.  Better luck next time Chris!

In the Junior National Heavy Class Liam Brooks raced using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J engine.  He showed consistent pace throughout the day to place 3rd in the 1st & 2nd Heats.  He then followed this up with another 3rd in the Final.  Well Done!

2010 National Championships

Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell competed in the 2010 National Championships this weekend held at the Eastern Lions Kart Club track at Puckapunyal.  Glenn competed in the Clubman Heavy class using a Silhouette C30 Chassis and in the Senior National Heavy class using the Silhouette J28 Chassis.  He was powered by Silhouette Race engines prepared Yamaha engines in both classes.

In Senior National Heavy Glenn showed some good speed including setting the fastest lap in Heat 1.  In the Final he was involved in a tough battle at the front of the field & ended up finishing in 5th position.  Well Done!

In a huge field of Clubman Heavy Glenn qualified 16th out of 48 drivers.  In the 3 Heats Glenn showed some good speed but was unfortunately involved in a number of incidents which meant he was only able to finish one heat in 8th position.  This meant he would have to start the 16 lap Final in 40th position!  In the Final Glenn was finally able to show the potential of the Silhouette C30 by charging through the field, getting up to 16th postion on the last lap.  Unfortunately on the 2nd last corner a passing move for 15th position resulted in Glenn spinning out of the race.

All Star Series - Round 1 - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

This weekend at Todd Road Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  In his second meeting & still on P-Plates Steven once again showed that Silhouette Race Karts are the Kart to have in this class.  Starting last in every race due to being on P-Plates he set the fastest lap in both heats to come through the field to finish in 5th & 4th.  In the Pre-Final he once again set the fastest lap finishing in 2nd place by only 0.119 second!  In the Final he once again carved his way through the field, setting the fastest lap of the race, to take the victory by over 2 seconds.  Well done!

In the Clubman Heavy class Glenn Riddell debuted the new Silhouette C30 chassis which has just been released powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  After a difficult Heat #1 where he finished in 11th position he showed the potential of the new chassis by finishing in 3rd place in Heat #2 only 0.367 second behind the winner.  Unfortunately he was involved in an incident at the start of the Pre-Final which resulted in a DNF.  This meant he would have to start the final in 16th position.  Showing that the new chassis will be a force to be reckoned with he recovered from a poor start to charge his way up to 8th position at the finish, setting the fastest lap of the race.

Today at Pucka Steven Riddell raced the Silhouette T30 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard X30 engine in the TAG Restricted class.  In his first meeting in 15 years & despite being on P-Plates Steven showed the superior pace of his Silhouette package in the first 2 heats to win them both in convincing fashion.  Unfortunately he fouled a spark plug at the start of the 3rd heat and didn’t finish.  His wins in the first 2 heats still gave him enough points to take 1st place overall on the day.  Well done!

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road)

Today at Todd Road Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C28 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine in the Clubman Heavy class in extremely hot conditions.  In his first meeting in the class Glenn showed some good pace by finishing 2nd in both heats.  He dropped back to 3rd at the start of the Final but fought his way back to 2nd place matching the pace of the leader towards the end of the race.

 

In the TAG Restricted class Chris Knowles raced the Silhouette T32 chassis using a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Leopard engine.  In his first race meeting off p-plates he showed good speed in the heats by finishing in 4th & 5th places in a big field of 18 drivers.  Starting in position 2 for the Final he shot to the lead at the start of the race & after a good battle he finished an excellent 3rd place at the end of the 12 lap Final.

Today at Todd Road Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C28 chassis in the Clubman Light class.  Showing the speed of the Silhouette C28 chassis & Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine Glenn came through the field in the Final after starting 8th due to not finishing in Heat #1 to finish in 3rd place.

At Oakleigh Jordan Kaye was also competing in the Clubman Light class aboard the Silhouette C28 chassis.  Showing some great pace Jordan placed 2nd in Heat #1 & 3rd in Heat #2.  Unfortunately Jordan didn’t finish the Final but showed he had the speed to finish on the podium.

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road) & Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club.

Today at Oakleigh Jordan Kaye was competing in the Clubman Light class aboard the Silhouette C28 chassis.  In the cold & tricky conditions he unfortunately failed to finish both Heat races.  Starting last in the Final Jordan stunned the other Clubman Light drivers by storming through the field to take Victory by over 2 seconds.  He also set the fastest lap which was 0.5sec faster than the next quickest driver! 

At Todd Road Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette C28 chassis in the Clubman Light class powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha S engine.  Also in cold & sometimes damp conditions Glenn finished 5th in Heat #1 and showed some great pace in Heat #2 to finish 2nd by only half a kart length. Starting 2nd for the Final he took the lead at the start & pulled a small gap but after a tough race finished on the podium in 3rd place.

This weekend Glenn Riddell competed in the Senior National Pro class aboard the Silhouette J28 chassis powered by a Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J.  He was consistently placed in the top 3 all weekend and ended up on the podium with 3rd position.

Club Day - Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club.

Today Jordan Kaye competed in the Clubman Light class using a Silhouette C28 chassis.  He showed good consistency in the two heats by finishing 3rd & 5th.  In the Final he increased his pace & drove a good race to finish in 2nd place, which placed him in 2nd overall for the day.  Well done Jordan!

Today at Todd Road Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette J28 chassis in the Senior National Pro class.  Showing the speed of the Silhouette J28 chassis & Silhouette Race Engines prepared Yamaha J Glenn finished 1st in Heat #1 & 2nd in Heat #2.  Starting in pole position in the Final, Glenn led from start to finish take the victory!

At Oakleigh Jordan Kaye was competing in the Clubman Light class aboard the Silhouette C28 chassis.  Showing some great pace Jordan placed 5th in Heat #1 & 3rd in Heat #2.  After a tough battle in the Final Jordan just missed out on a podium finishing in 4th place.  After only moving up from Juniors at the start of the year Jordan is showing that he will be one to watch as he gains more experience throughout the year.

2009 Victorian Championships

Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell competed in the 2009 Victorian Championships this weekend held at the Eastern Lions Kart Club track at Puckapunyal.  Glenn competed in the Senior National Heavy class using the Silhouette J28 Chassis & Yamaha J engines prepared in-house by Silhouette Race Engines.  Glenn qualified in 3rd position & after 2nd & 3rd places in the two heats (including the fastest lap in Heat 2) he started the Pre-Final in 3rd position & finished in 4th, which would be his starting position for the all important Final.  After a tough race Glenn finished the Final in 3rd position only missing out on 2nd place by 0.029 of a second!

Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road).

Today Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette J28 chassis in the Senior National Pro class.  Showing great pace in the sunny conditions Glenn  worked his way to the front at half race distance in Heat #1 & pulled away for a convincing win.  In Heat #2 Glenn again carved his way through the pack to take another convincing win.  Starting in pole position in the Final, Glenn had an early battle with another competitor but once again took the victory to end the day unbeaten with a clean sweep of wins.

Silhouette Race Karts would like to congratulate Jordan Kaye on an excellent effort in his first meeting since moving up to seniors.  With no testing after only picking up his new Silhouette C28 the day before, he just missed out on a podium place by ending up 4th overall on points in the very competitive Clubman Light class.

Today Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette J28 chassis in the Senior National Pro class.  After a difficult run in the Heats where he finished 4th & then had a DNF, Glenn would have to work hard in the Final only starting from 6th position.  He showed the pace of the Silhouette J28 by steadily moving through the field to take a hard fought win in the 12 lap Final to start the year on a winning note!

Gold Cup - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road).

Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell competed in the annual Gold Cup which was run over 2 days with 3 heats of 8 laps, a pre-final of 12 laps and a Final of 15 laps.  He competed in the Senior National Pro class using the Silhouette J28 chassis. Unfortunately Glenn was unable to compete on the first day of competition due to prior commitments. This meant he missed the first 2 heats.  He started the 3rd heat on Sunday morning in 8th place and carved his way through the field to win comfortably. This meant he also started the pre-final from 8th and once again he worked his way through the field to take a hard fought win.  He started from pole position for the 15 lap Final and after leading for every lap he was passed with half a lap to go and narrowly missed out on victory by finishing a close second.

2008 Tasmanian Championships

Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell competed in the 2008 Tasmanian Championships held from 31st Oct - 2nd Nov in Burnie, Tasmania.  Glenn competed in the Senior National Light & Heavy classes using the Silhouette J28 Chassis & Yamaha J engines prepared in-house by Silhouette Race Engines.  Glenn qualified in fourth position in both classes missing out on Pole Position in Senior National Light by less than 0.1 sec!  Unfortunately Glenn was involved in a pile-up at the start of the Senior National Light Final which eliminated him from the race.  He was able to show the full potential of the Silhouette J28 in the Senior National Heavy Final by finishing an excellent 2nd place.

Today Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced the Silhouette J28 chassis in the Senior National Pro class.  Showing great pace in the sunny conditions Glenn turned his front row starting position in Heat #1 into a convincing win.  Starting at the rear of the field in Heat #2 Glenn carved his way through the pack to take another win.  Starting in pole position in the Final, Glenn had a race long battle with another competitor & narrowly missed out on victory finishing one kart length behind in second position.

Feburary Club Day - Go-Kart Club of Victoria (Todd Road).

Today Silhouette Race Karts team test driver Glenn Riddell raced our new prototype Silhouette chassis for the first time in the Senior National Pro class.  2nd & 4th place finishes in the two 8 lap heats placed Glenn on grid 3 for the 12 lap final.  In the Final Glenn moved into the lead at the start of lap 5 and pulled away to stretch the lead out to about 10 kart length's at the finish to give our new chassis a winning debut!
